Current observations show a channel of 30-35KT SSW gusts mainly
to the south and east of KDEN, with most observations over the
Denver metro showing winds starting to weaken a bit, with ~20KT
gusts. South to southwest winds will continue through the
overnight hours with occasional gusts up to 20KT possible. Breezy
southwest winds will pick up again in the morning starting at
14-16Z, with gusts up to 25-30KT at times. Some uncertainty
regarding wind direction enters the picture late Monday afternoon
due to the development of a surface low pressure northeast of
Denver. KBJC is most likely to experience a shift to NW/N winds
from this circulation, with some potential for a northerly
component at KDEN in the early evening. A cold front will then
push through the region between 05Z and 07Z, bringing northerly
winds through Tuesday morning.

KCOS, and KPUB. The main concern over the next 24 hours will be the
gusty winds that develop over all of the forecast sites during the
late morning. The South-southwest winds will persist after the

Mid level ceilings continue across much of the region this
morning, with a few TEMPO showers likely to bring ceilings near
breakpoints. Winds remain gusty at the surface, with stronger
winds aloft creating some LLWS at the terminals. This trend for
strong winds off the surface continues Monday, as a spirited jet
max overhead will mix down gusts near 40 mph across the region.
Showers and thunderstorms will develop again too. This will
likely produce breakpoint conditions at many terminals,
especially around the more organized showers. A few storms could
produce stronger gusts in an already excessively windy regime.
The afternoon through the early evening will prove challenging
for aviators, with some improvement again after midnight.

KSLC...MVFR conditions are expected to continue at the SLC terminal
in rain through between 03Z and 05Z. There is a 30 percent chance
that the MVFR conditions will last longer than expected or other
periods of MVFR conditions will develop overnight and into the
morning. Otherwise, VFR conditions are expected to prevail with cigs
predominately at or below 6000 feet AGL. Periods of showers will
continue throughout the day Monday, bringing low chances of MVFR
conditions in heavier showers. Northwest winds are expected to shift
to the south between 08Z and 10Z, with a 20 percent chance of
northwest winds lasting later than expected.
REST OF UTAH AND SOUTHWEST WYOMING...Widespread rain will continue
over the airspace this evening before becoming more showery and
focused over northern Utah and southwest Wyoming during the
overnight hours. Showers will then become more widespread during the
day Monday, lasting into the evening. VFR conditions will prevail,
with MVFR conditions developing at times in the heavier rain. Gusty
winds are switching to the north and weakening over northern
portions of the airspace as winds stay gusty out of the south ahead
of it. The front will track southeast overnight, with winds overall
becoming less gusty.

A weather system continues to bring rain and low clouds to the area.
There will be frequent reductions in flight category due to low
clouds and reduced VIS from rain. Some snow will mix in with rain at
KCOD at times. Conditions will generally be MVFR to IFR, but brief
reductions to LIFR cannot be ruled out at KCOD and KWRL. There will
be improvement to VFR at times as well for most terminals, which is

Wind will be breezy at KRKS and KCPR tonight, but will decrease
around 08Z at KRKS. A cold front along the Continental Divide should
retreat northward early in the TAF period, which will bring
southerly wind to KCPR, which will be short-lived as it pushes south
to the Divide again by mid-morning. Frequent mountain obscuration
continues through the TAF period.

Winds have decreased at most terminals tonight, other than KLAR
and KRWL. Winds will remain light and variable for the terminals
with winds increasing into the afternoon hours. KLAR and KRWL
will remain gusty throughout the night and for much of the day
tomorrow. Low clouds started to move into KCDR tonight with low
ceilings expected to continue for the next several hours. KAIA
may also see decreasing ceilings after 11Z when upper-level
clouds clear out. IFR ceilings will be possible. All ceilings
improve after 15Z in the morning.

The main aviation concern will be some fog development across
northern Nebraska and into the Sandhills through Monday morning. Fog
is already beginning to push out of North Dakota and is expected to
continue expanding south throughout the overnight. Reductions in
visibility down to at least 1 mile will be possible. Fog is expected
to remain north of the I-80 corridor, resulting in limited impacts
at KLBF. Fog will lift by mid to late morning giving way to VFR
conditions through the remainder of the TAF period. Overall, winds
will remain light, however, they are expected increase up to 25
knots this evening.

VFR conditions are expected at both KGLD and KMCK through the TAF
period. A low level jet in place is producing southwesterly wind
shear up to 50 kts at both sites, and will persist to a little
before sunrise. Winds are expected to make a small shift out of the
southwest over the next few hours as a surface low approaches the
area. This surface low will also be responsible for a cold front
entering the area from the north later this afternoon, which will
primarily affect KMCK during the TAF period. Winds will back out of
the east-northeast beginning around 23Z as this front comes
through, sustaining around 10-15 kts.

A few batches of showers and thunderstorms are currently pushing
out of north central New Mexico with others moving across the
eastern plains of the state. These will dwindle in coverage and
die off through 12/0900UTC (3 AM MDT) Monday morning. Winds will
strengthen from the southwest through the late morning Monday, but
speeds are not forecast to be quite as strong as they were on
Sunday. Still, gusts of 25 to 35 kt will be somewhat common with
northeastern areas (KLVS, KRTN, and KCAO) observing a few gusts
close to 40 kt. Any showers on Monday will be very minimal,
staying mostly in north central to far northwestern New Mexico,
and any lightning is modeled to largely stay northwest of the
Four Corners. Winds will decrease quickly in lower elevations
around sunset Monday evening, but a few ridges and mountain peaks
may remain gusty overnight.
