Subject:  New river forecast services for the Kansas River near Lake 
Quivira in Kansas City, Kansas (KLQK1) to replace forecast services 
for the Kansas River at Turner Bridge (TNRK1). 

Effective at 1300 Coordinated Universal Time on July 15, 2025, the 
National Weather Service will begin providing daily river forecast 
services for the Kansas River near Lake Quivira (KLQK1). At that 
time, forecast services currently based on data from the Kansas 
River at Turner Bridge (TNRK1) will transition to use data from the 
new KLQK1 location, which is approximately five miles upstream of 
TNRK1. Flood impact categories for KLQK1 have been aligned with 
documented impacts at TNRK1.

Beginning July 15, 2025, areas along the Kansas River from Bonner 
Springs, KS to Turner Bridge in Kansas City, KS will receive river 
forecasts and warning services based on the KLQK1 river gage. 

The flood levels for the Kansas River near Lake Quivira (KLQK1) are 
as follows:

        Action Stage: 23 feet
   Minor Flood Stage: 26 feet
Moderate Flood Stage: 33 feet
   Major Flood Stage: 38 feet 
                               
These changes will affect the following NWS text products:
	  
	  STLESFEAX - Probabilistic Hydrologic Outlook
	  STLESFEAX - Hydrologic Outlook
	  STLFLWEAX - River Flood Warning
	  STLFLSEAX - River Flood Statement

This change has been coordinated with the US Geological Survey, 
the US Army Corps of Engineers, the Kaw Valley Levee District, 
and Wyandotte County, KS Emergency Management.
