.DISCUSSION...A very weak inversion exists this morning, with
light downslope westerly flow in place. The winds may become
light and variable at times through about 9-10 am, but eventually
a slightly stronger mixed westerly wind is likely to develop (70%
chance) and persist most of the afternoon. There is in contrast to
a diurnal easterly, which is only about a 30% chance for the burn
site this afternoon. Wind speeds will stay on the lighter side
especially in contrast to yesterday. Sustained speeds of 6-12 mph
with a few gusts to around 18 mph can be expected. The airmass is
quite dry so humidity will be low and dropping to or slightly less
than 15% for minimums. In fact, RH is starting off impressively
dry with humidity in these predawn hours only around 25 percent.
Enough mixing is expected and westerly flow aloft for smoke
dispersion to reach the good to very good categories for the 11 am
to 5 pm period.
Similar temperature and low humidity conditions can be expected
Wednesday with a dry airmass holding over the area. Winds will be
even lighter than today with higher potential for a weak upslope.
That will limit smoke dispersion to fair for Wednesday afternoon.
