This bulk download tool provides the NWS text
in a raw form, hopefully directly usable by your processing system.
You can either provide a complete 6-character PIL/AFOS ID or provide
the 3-character base ID (e.g., AFD). The start and end
dates represent 00 UTC for those dates. The Zip format is useful as
the filenames will have the product timestamp, which is useful for
when the product format has ambiguous timestamps.
794 FXUS66 KHNX 232102 AFDHNX Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Hanford CA 202 PM PDT Thu Oct 23 2025 && .KEY MESSAGES... 1. Dense fog will occur over the next two nights and morning hours along the Highway’s 41, 99 and 198. 2. A Pacific Storm will drop through Northern California on Saturday. The storm will bring cooler temperatures and light precipitation to the area. 3. The weekend storm exit California on Sunday with warm and dry weather next week. This will allow for dense fog in the San Joaquin Valley. 4. Climate Prediction Center placing Central California under above normal temperatures and normal for precipitation toward the end of the month. && .DISCUSSION... As the cut-off area of low pressure exits the region and joins up with the main pattern, a small ridge is expected to follow in its place, which when combined with the recent precipitation in the Valley, may lead to fog formation in the early morning today, mainly along the Hwy 99 corridor. This is due to the stable air aloft not allowing the drier air above the Valley to mix with the saturated air near the surface. That surface air is than cooled through the night and condenses as it reaches its dew point in the early morning, leading to fog formation. So we may see more "sunrise surprise" fog this morning as we saw a few mornings ago. Always remember to drive with caution and slow down in foggy areas. After that small ridge exits the area tomorrow, a shallow trough is expected to move through the Northwest and Northern California this weekend. As of current forecasts, it is expected to graze Mariposa County, which may see a small amount of snowfall is the higher elevations of the Sierra Nevada, as will Yosemite NP. Previous forecasts had this trough coming in much deeper than current forecasts, which now have it much shallower, so much of the impact form this system will likely be cooler temperatures and slightly elevated winds, but not much rainfall for the lower Counties in our CWA. Looking into next week, the upper level pattern is expected to become mostly zonal flow, keeping the weather calm and temperatures consistently near normal through at least next Thursday. && .AVIATION... VFR conditions will prevail across the central California interior for the next 24 hours. && .AIR QUALITY ISSUES... None. && .CERTAINTY... The level of certainty for days 1 and 2 is high.
