...NWS Damage Survey for 04/12/2023 Tornadoes...

.Overview...A deepening low pressure system in the Gulf of
Mexico forced a stalled frontal boundary northward across
south Florida. Favorable shear and the warm front interacting
with the coastal interface resulted in a favorable environment
for rotating updrafts. Additionally, merging cells in the back
building regime favored periods of increased vorticity and
ascent. Two short-lived tornadoes were able to impact portions
of Broward county. The stronger of the two with the slightly
longer track occurred just south of the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood
airport, with the other touching down west of Interstate 95 near
Sheridan road.
