Favorable shear and the warm front interacting with the coastal interface resulted in a favorable environment for rotating updrafts. Additionally, merging cells in the back building regime favored periods of increased vorticity and ascent. Two short-lived tornadoes were able to impact portions of Broward county. The stronger of the two with the slightly longer track occurred just south of the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood airport, with the other touching down west of Interstate 95 near Sheridan road. .Sheridan Road... The tornado may have just impacted the tree-top level. A weak tornadic debris signature (TDS) was noted on radar in the exact location of the damage. .Dania Beach... Rating: EF0 Estimated Peak Wind: 85 mph Path Length /statute/: 0.58 miles Path Width /maximum/: 50 yards Fatalities: 0 Injuries: 0 Start Date: 04/12/2023 Start Time: 09:41 PM EDT Start Location: 1 WSW Dania Beach / Broward County / FL Start Lat/Lon: 26.0594 / -80.1508 End Date: 04/12/2023 End Time: 09:44 PM EDT End Location: 1 WSW Dania Beach / Broward County / FL End Lat/Lon: 26.059 / -80.16 Survey Summary: A tornado briefly touched down just south of KFLL and moved almost due west for about a half of a mile. The tornado caused tree damage along Old Griffin road before crossing into a mobile home community east of Interstate 95. Metal siding roof damage was noted throughout the community. The EFO was rated on the high-end of the scale based on this damage.
