Area Forecast Discussion
National Weather Service Tulsa OK
345 PM CST Fri Feb 10 2017

.DISCUSSION...
Unseasonably warm and breezy conditions will maintain a heightened
fire weather concern through sunset with winds slowly weakening
thereafter. Record breaking warmth will overspread portions of
eastern Oklahoma on Saturday ahead of the next cold front. A
sample of this airmass is seen with the ongoing temps across far
NW OK. The deeper moisture will be in place across far E OK / NW
AR which will keep humidity levels higher, however locations west
of highway 75 in NE OK are likely to mix into much lower
dewpoints and resultant humidity levels will be very low. Winds
across this same region will remain fairly light which should help
with fire spread rates. OK Forestry has requested a Red Flag
Warning for the hot and dry conditions. Any wildfires will have to
contend with a wind shift Sat night as the cold front sweeps
through the region.

Noticeably cooler temps on Sunday yet high temps will likely
remain just above seasonal averages. Rain chances begin to
increase Monday and more so Monday night through Tuesday with
rains gradually ending Tues night. The trend remains for the
heavier precip amounts to be focused south of Interstate 40 with
much lighter amounts across NE OK / far NW AR. Seasonably cool
temps continue these days w/ cloud cover and precip occurring.
Once this wave passes a high amplitude ridge builds through the
central U.S. which will keep the weather quiet and temps gradually
moderating and rising above normal from mid to late next week.
