Rating: EF-0 Estimated Peak Wind: 85 mph Path Length /statute/: 0.2 miles Path Width /maximum/: 75 yards Fatalities: 0 Injuries: 0 Start Date: July 24, 2024 Start Time: 3:25 PM ET Start Location: Town of Orwell, Oswego County, NY Start Lat/Lon: 43.5768 / -75.8982 End Date: July 24, 2024 End Time: 3:28 PM ET End Location: Town of Orwell, Oswego County, NY End Lat/Lon: 43.5772 / -75.8942 A short coherent path of broken tree limbs extended down an east-west oriented tributary of the Pennock Brook just to the southeast of Jackson Pond in the eastern portion of the Town of Orwell in Oswego County. The path continued into the headwaters of this tributary before it went into a thicker wooded area a bit farther east. As it did so, convergent tree damage was noted with multiple large limbs broken and a few hardwood trees being uprooted in the marshy soils. Because of the wet nature of the soil in the path and limited nature of uprooting, peak winds have been estimated at 85 mph with a preliminary rating of EF-0. The National Weather Service extends its thanks to the Oswego County Emergency Management Office for its assistance with both coordination and aerial imagery of the remote area of this survey. && EF Scale: The Enhanced Fujita Scale classifies tornadoes into the following categories: EF0.....65 to 85 mph EF1.....86 to 110 mph EF2.....111 to 135 mph EF3.....136 to 165 mph EF4.....166 to 200 mph EF5.....>200 mph NOTE: The information in this statement is preliminary and subject to change pending final review of the event and publication in NWS Storm Data. $$ Fries
