Survey Summary:

The National Weather Service Louisville storm damage team found 
straight line winds on the north side of Leitchfield, 
approximately 4 miles from downtown. A very concentrated area of 
winds, about 0.15 miles wide hit Foxborough Dr near Clifty Church 
Rd, for a total of about 0.3 miles long. There were many trees 
twisted, topped, and uprooted, with the vast majority of trees 
facing an east-northeast to a north-northeast direction.

There was one large black walnut tree facing 347 degrees and we 
are unclear why that one tree uprooted to that direction. Trees on
Foxborough Drive were almost all facing 060 degrees, whereas 
trees on the other side of Clifty Church Road along Yochum Rd were
facing 025 degrees. Winds were between 80 and 85 mph. There was 
roof shingle and roofing material damage to 4 homes. One home at 
67 Foxborough Drive had a travel trailer thrown 12 yards into the 
home, doing substantial side and roof damage. Their garage had 
blocks sliding inward and blowing out the roof. The garage was 
full of license plates and many of the license plates were thrown 
up to a quarter mile downwind along with shingles and roofing 
material. Winds were estimated to be 85 mph. Drone video 
photography was extremely helpful to determine the exact type of 
storm that did this damage.
