575 NOUS42 KMFL 291825 PNSMFL FLZ063-066>075-168-172>174-301830- Public Information Statement National Weather Service Miami FL 225 PM EDT Sat Apr 29 2023 ...NWS DAMAGE SURVEY FOR APRIL 28 2023 EF-0 TORNADO IN BOYNTON BEACH... A tornado rated EF-0 affected southern portions of Boynton Beach Friday evening, April 28th. Rating: EF-0 Estimated peak wind: 80 mph Path length (statute): 0.8 miles Path width (maximum): 100 yards Fatalities: 0 Injuries: 0 Start date: APR 28 2023 Start time: 7:33 PM EDT Start location: Boynton Beach, FL Start lat/lon: 26.506/-80.08 End date: APR 28 2023 End time: 7:38 PM EDT End location: Boynton Beach, FL End_lat/lon: 26.511/-80.069 First visible signs of tornadic damage was noted just west of I-95 and south of SW 23rd Ave in the form of several broken large tree branches and a Royal Palm partially stripped of its fronds. The tornado moved ENE and crossed SW 23rd Ave at the Seaboard Coast Line railway bridge, which was confirmed by video received of rotating debris on the bridge at this location. The tornado continued on a ENE path as it crossed I-95, with reports of traffic stopping or slowing down as the circulation crossed the highway. The heaviest damage occurred on the east side of I-95 in the western section of the High Point neighborhood, along High Point Blvd and High Point Ct where about a half-dozen homes sustained minor roof uplift near the corners of the structures, awnings twisted or completely torn off and landing several houses away, and several large tree branches and trunks broken. The damage path became rather ill-defined as the tornado approached SW 3rd St, with damage points spreading out to the north suggesting a turn more to the NE or NNE near its end point. The final indication of tornadic damage was a downed small palm tree at Main Blvd just east of SW 3rd St, just south of the Boynton Beach Little League Park. The damage path was sporadic in spots, with large tree branches or trunks snapped right next to other trees and buildings with no visible signs of damage. Therefore, the tornado is rated as an EF-0 with estimated maximum winds near 80 mph. Most of the winds along the path were estimated in the 65-75 mph range. Start and end time was estimated and based on velocity data from the West Palm Beach FAA terminal doppler radar. Note: The information in this statement is preliminary and subject to change pending final review of the event and publication in NWS Storm Data. $$ Molleda/Hadi/Reynes
