096 NOUS44 KLUB 272030 PNSLUB TXZ021>044-280830- Public Information Statement National Weather Service Lubbock TX 330 PM CDT Thu Apr 27 2023 ...NWS Damage Survey for 04/25/23 Tornado, Damaging Winds and Hail Event... .Overview... A supercell developed across the far southern Texas Panhandle during the late afternoon hours of Tuesday, April 25, 2023. The supercell moved southeastward through the north-central South Plains and into the west- central Rolling Plains before dissipating before midnight on the 25th. This storm brought an almost continuous swath of large hail and damaging wind reports along its approximately 125 mile track. As the storm passed through Floyd County, a tornado was observed by storm chasers in open country to the south and east of Floydada around 9:20 pm CDT. The NWS damage survey did not find any visible damage in the area. As the storm continued southeast, a weather station of the West Texas Mesonet in far northwest Dickens County recorded a 90 mph wind gust at 9:39 pm CDT. Three miles to the southeast, several structures in the community of McAdoo showed various degrees of wind damage, which was determined to be due to severe rear-flank downdraft (RFD) winds. Approximately 12 miles farther to the southeast, large to giant hail impacted much of the town of Dickens, causing extensive property damage. Despite a strong rotational signal from the NWS WSR-88D radar at Lubbock (approximately 56 miles away) no indication of severe wind damage was observed in and around Dickens aside from the wind driven hail damage. .Tornado near Dougherty in Floyd County...
