...NWS Damage Survey for 03/31/23 Owen/Monroe/Morgan Counties Tornado Event...

.Overview...
Thunderstorms developed across Southern Illinois Friday March 31, 
2023. Thunderstorms continued to move northeast across Southeast 
Illinois and crossed into Southwest Indiana before reaching Owen County. The 
tornado reached McCormicks Creek State Park, then continued northeast into 
extreme Northeast Owen and Northwest Monroe Counties. The tornado then marginally 
weakened before reaching Morgan County near Martinsville. National Weather Service 
Indianapolis storm damage surveys have concluded for today in Owen/Monroe/Morgan 
Counties.

Survey Summary:
Subdivision near Highway 37 numerous homes were observed with
considerable roof damage, and a grain bin (empty) had been lofted
and displaced. Top of concrete grain bin was torn off. Heading
northeast there was sporadic tree damage observed and continued
until next structure along Rolling Hills Dr. Pontoon boat was
lofted from west side of lake and dropped at the far
east/northeast point on Paris Dr. Pontoon boat was lofted over a
a nearby home before final resting place against a home. Estimated 
lofting from original location to final destination was 
around 1/4 mile.
