Survey Summary:
In addition to the EF1 tornado east of Mendenhall, an up to two mile 
wide swath of straight-line wind damage associated with a strong 
rear flank downdraft was surveyed in the D'Lo and Mendenahll areas 
of Simpson County. Residents in the area described an approximately 
5 minute period of high winds and heavy rain as the storm pushed 
through. Several large trees were uprooted or snapped in the swath, 
and a few were snapped at the trunk. Several trees fell onto homes 
and power lines. A few trees fell onto an apartment complex in 
Mendenhall, with the roof sustaining damage. A service station 
canopy along US Highway 49 collapsed into the pumps and convenience 
store. In the corridor of strongest winds, which occurred on the 
north side of downtown Mendenhall, wind speeds were estimated to be 
up to 90 MPH, with tree damage observed on most streets in that 
area.

Survey Summary:
A brief tornado mowed down mostly hardwood trees on both sides of 
Simpson County Highway 540, just east of Highway 49. A pine was 
snapped on the north side of the road and a large limb was snapped 
and twisted from a hardwood on the south side of the road. The 
tornado was estimated to be a little more than three quarters of a 
mile long, about 75 yards at the widest with maximum wind speeds 
around 95 mph.

Survey Summary:
This brief tornado touched down in the vicinity of Hoy and Trace
Roads and moved generally east for almost 3 miles. Uprooted trees
and broken limbs were the main damage. Other scattered wind
damage was noted in the area.
