Sunday May 30th, 2021 saw multiple tornadoes in the northwestern Panhandles. Persistent low level winds out of the east brought substantial moisture to the region, allowing for thunderstorms to break out as an upper level disturbance approached from the southwest. With the surface winds out of the east in place, low level shear was sufficient for multiple tornadoes to develop with these thunderstorms, with 6 tornadoes confirmed in Dallam and Sherman Counties. 5 of these tornadoes occurred over open land, did not affect any damage indicators, and were thus unable to be assigned a rating. In addition to the Dallam and Sherman County tornadoes, tornadoes also occurred in Cimarron County on the 30th. Rating: EF0 Estimated Peak Wind: 85 mph Path Length /statute/: 4.6061 miles Path Width /maximum/: 150.0 yards Fatalities: 0 Injuries: 0 Start Date: 05/30/2021 Start Time: 07:43 PM CDT Start Location: 8 ESE Stratford / Sherman County / TX Start Lat/Lon: 36.2997 / -101.9327 End Date: 05/30/2021 End Time: 07:53 PM CDT End Location: 9 E Stratford / Sherman County / TX End Lat/Lon: 36.3612 / -101.9008 Survey Summary: Multiple storm chasers recorded a large tornado crossing Highway 15 east of Stratford around 750 pm CDT. The tornado did not damage the power lines along the highway and this was the basis for the EF0 rating. Otherwise the tornado stayed in open country grassland and farmlands and survey team found no damage anywhere along the path which was estimated based on video and radar evidence.
