This brings the event total to eleven tornadoes and the surveyed downburst. ..HOLMES COUNTY DOWNBURST... Rating: TSTM/Wind Estimated Peak Wind: 75 mph Path Length /statute/: 13.39 miles Path Width /maximum/: 7400.0 yards Fatalities: 0 Injuries: 0 Start Date: 04/23/2020 Start Time: 10:35 AM CDT Start Location: Izagora / Holmes County / FL Start Lat/Lon: 30.9078 / -85.8439 End Date: 04/23/2020 End Time: 10:51 AM CDT End Location: Noma / Holmes County / FL End Lat/Lon: 30.8916 / -85.6194 Survey Summary: A downburst began just east of the Choctawhatchee River along Route 179 near Izagora Drive in Bonifay Florida with an initial width of around 2.3 miles or around 4,000 yards. The downburst ended near Route 173 near Steverson Road in Bonifay Florida with a final width of around 4.2 miles or around 7,400 yards. Along the path of the downburst, there was sporadic damage to hard and softwood trees, many of which were uprooted and pointing in an easterly direction. The greatest damage was concentrated along Route 79 north of Williams Road, where several trees were uprooted and snapped. The downburst affected an area around 13.4 miles long and up to 4.2 miles wide with with straight line wind speeds up to 75 mph. ..PELHAM TORNADO... Rating: EF1 Estimated Peak Wind: 95 mph Path Length /statute/: 2.43 miles Path Width /maximum/: 176.0 yards Fatalities: 0 Injuries: 0 Start Date: 04/23/2020 Start Time: 12:05 PM EDT Start Location: 1 WNW Pelham / Mitchell County / GA Start Lat/Lon: 31.1314 / -84.1624 End Date: 04/23/2020 End Time: 12:10 PM EDT End Location: 2 E Pelham / Mitchell County / GA End Lat/Lon: 31.1206 / -84.1238 Survey Summary: This tornado touched down near Welch St. NW on the west side of Pelham, GA. Damage was mainly confined to snapped or uprooted trees. However, the tornado did remove a large percentage of metal roofing at an auto service building on Curry Street. It also flipped a van at this location. Several trees were uprooted or snapped on Green St. before the tornado damaged a metal awning at a warehouse on U.S. 19 just south of Green St. East. The tornado continued southeast from there, causing some damage to an outbuilding and the roof of a home on Harmony Road before lifting. The damage was consistent with an EF-1 rating. Many other locations within Pelham were damaged by straight-line winds estimated to be around 80 mph. ..COLQUITT/COOK COUNTY LONG-TRACK TORNADO... Rating: EF1 Estimated Peak Wind: 110 mph Path Length /statute/: 28.6503 miles Path Width /maximum/: 650.0 yards Fatalities: 0 Injuries: 0 Start Date: 04/23/2020 Start Time: 12:34 PM EDT Start Location: 2 N Moultrie Municipal A/P / Colquitt County / GA Start Lat/Lon: 31.1094 / -83.7968 End Date: 04/23/2020 End Time: 01:10 PM EDT End Location: 3 SE Massee / Cook County / GA End Lat/Lon: 31.1464 / -83.321 Survey Summary: This long-track tornado was produced by the same thunderstorm that spawned a tornado in upstream Pelham, GA. The tornado touched down south of Moultrie, GA just west of U.S. 319 and produced damage consistent with EF-1 winds through most of its long track. Most of the damage was in the form of snapped or uprooted trees. As the tornado crossed GA route 133, it caused significant damage to a warehouse at the Farmer s Gin and Peanut Company. The tornado reached its maximum intensity of 110 mph, which is just shy of EF-2, at the east end of Pike Creek Turf Circle. Here it snapped many large pine trees at their base. The tornado caused some minor roof damage to a home on McConnell Bridge Road before flipping a small plane upside down at the Cook County Airport. The tornado crossed I-75 at the Adel, GA exit damaging several billboards and tall signs. In downtown Adel, the tornado ripped off large sections of two warehouses on 3rd Street belonging to the Adel Ice Company. Many trees were toppled onto homes in the vicinity of East 9th and 10th Streets. Winds were estimated to be 95-100 mph in Adel. The tornado continued eastward snapping a few trees on GA Highway 37 East and in the Indian Creek Road subdivision. The tornado then snapped trees on Register Road and significantly damaged a large shed before lifting.It should be noted that a large swath of straight-line wind damage occurred to the south of the tornado track along much of its length from the Langdale Parkway in Colquitt County through Cecil, GA and eastward into northwestern Lanier County. These winds were estimated to be 90-95 mph in Cecil. ..LANIER COUNTY TORNADO... Rating: EF0 Estimated Peak Wind: 88 mph Path Length /statute/: 0.82 miles Path Width /maximum/: 25.0 yards Fatalities: 0 Injuries: 0 Start Date: 04/23/2020 Start Time: 01:28 PM EDT Start Location: 2 ENE Courthouse / Lanier County / GA Start Lat/Lon: 31.093 / -82.9832 End Date: 04/23/2020 End Time: 01:32 PM EDT End Location: 3 ENE Courthouse / Clinch County / GA End Lat/Lon: 31.0945 / -82.9698 Survey Summary: A weak tornado touched down just east of Powell Road in extreme eastern Lanier County. It caused minor tree damage there and also over on East Highway 122 just east of the county line. The tornado then continued into Clinch County. ..WALTON/HOLMES COUNTY TORNADO... Rating: EF1 Estimated Peak Wind: 90 mph Path Length /statute/: 10.26 miles Path Width /maximum/: 100.0 yards Fatalities: 0 Injuries: 0 Start Date: 04/23/2020 Start Time: 03:10 PM CDT Start Location: 2 SW De Funiak Springs / Walton County / FL Start Lat/Lon: 30.7047 / -86.1396 End Date: 04/23/2020 End Time: 03:20 PM CDT End Location: 2 N Douglass Crossroad / Holmes County / FL End Lat/Lon: 30.7126 / -85.9674 Survey Summary: Tree damage was first noted along Bob Sikes Rd. just west of Hwy 331. The tornado then crossed Hwy 331 knocking down a few business signs and trees as well as blowing in four windows of a series of businesses at a strip mall. A large retail business also had part of it's roof peeled back and a couple HVAC units blown off.The tornado continued east northeast with points surveyed along Bay Ave southeast of DeFuniak Springs as well as County Rd 183 south of Argyle. Trees and large limbs were downed at both locations. The location south of Argyle was the last portion of the track able to be surveyed as the track then went into inaccessible portions of Holmes County south of HWY 90. Radar was used to extend the track a few more miles into Holmes county. The tornado lifted before reaching Ponce De Leon or Highway 81. ..WASHINGTON COUNTY TORNADO... Rating: EF0 Estimated Peak Wind: 80 mph Path Length /statute/: 2.68 miles Path Width /maximum/: 100 yards Fatalities: 0 Injuries: 0 Start Date: 04/23/2020 Start Time: 03:33 PM CDT Start Location: 1 NNE Five Points / Washington County / FL Start Lat/Lon: 30.7282 / -85.7412 End Date: 04/23/2020 End Time: 03:36 PM CDT End Location: 2 W Johnson Crossroads / Washington County / FL End Lat/Lon: 30.729 / -85.6963 Survey Summary: A brief touchdown occurred along Bethel Road where multiple trees were uprooted. Tornadic damage was also noted around 2.5 miles east along Douglas Ferry Road. Much of the area between these two points was inaccessible for a ground survey but radar suggests a continuous path. It's possible this path could be extended,or additional tornado segments be added, in Washington County. This will be based on further review of radar data and any updated aerial imagery that becomes available. ..WASHINGTON/JACKSON COUNTY TORNADO... Rating: EF2 Estimated Peak Wind: 120 mph Path Length /statute/: 18.12 miles Path Width /maximum/: 400.0 yards Fatalities: 0 Injuries: 0 Start Date: 04/23/2020 Start Time: 03:49 PM CDT Start Location: 3 NE Brock Crossroad / Washington County / FL Start Lat/Lon: 30.7231 / -85.5974 End Date: 04/23/2020 End Time: 04:05 PM CDT End Location: 3 E Kynesville / Jackson County / FL End Lat/Lon: 30.7267 / -85.2941 Survey Summary: Initial damage was noted near the intersection of Owen Place and Piney Grove Roads. From the touchdown point, damage, consisting of hundreds of snapped and uprooted trees, was continuous right to the Jackson County border along Corbin Rd. The tornado intensified as it moved across Jackson County. In addition to downing many hundreds of trees there was significant structural damage at two locations. The first was at a farm off Farren Ranch Road where a two story outbuilding/home was completely destroyed with debris thrown several hundred yards. The second was along Bethlehem Rd. south of Kynesville Rd. where several mobile homes suffered significant damage. One of the mobile homes was completely destroyed with it's frame wrapped into a tree. Fortunately the mobile home was vacant at the time. ..PANAMA CITY TORNADO... Rating: EF0 Estimated Peak Wind: 85 mph Path Length /statute/: 13.1433 miles Path Width /maximum/: 75.0 yards Fatalities: 0 Injuries: 0 Start Date: 04/23/2020 Start Time: 04:00 PM CDT Start Location: West Panama City / / FL Start Lat/Lon: 30.1733 / -85.8049 End Date: 04/24/2020 End Time: 04:13 PM CDT End Location: 1 WNW Callaway / Bay County / FL End Lat/Lon: 30.1485 / -85.5886 Survey Summary: Tornado moved onshore in along Panama City Beach just west of Lower Grand Lagoon. Only minor damage was reported in Panama City Beach. The tornado cross St. Andrew Bay and impacted the area around the marina in downtown Panama City. Several unsecured construction trailers were destroyed along with a camper trailer. The tornado continued moving east through the Cove neighborhood before dissipating just east of the North Tyndall Parkway. Reports from Bay County EMA, along with media reports from WMBB and WJHG were used to analyze this tornado. ..SOUTHPORT TORNADO... Rating: EF0 Estimated Peak Wind: 75 mph Path Length /statute/: 1.3325 miles Path Width /maximum/: 50.0 yards Fatalities: 0 Injuries: 0 Start Date: 04/23/2020 Start Time: 04:07 PM CDT Start Location: 1 WSW Southport / Bay County / FL Start Lat/Lon: 30.2857 / -85.6564 End Date: 04/23/2020 End Time: 04:12 PM CDT End Location: Southport / Bay County / FL End Lat/Lon: 30.2907 / -85.6349 Survey Summary: No significant damage reported. Track based radar and video from social media (via WMBB). Video showed debris being lofted by tornado and power flashes from power lines. Tree damage was minimal, consisting of down limbs, mainly in the vicinity of the playground at Southport Elementary School. ..LEON COUNTY TORNADO... Rating: EF1 Estimated Peak Wind: 95 mph Path Length /statute/: 10.99 miles Path Width /maximum/: 600.0 yards Fatalities: 0 Injuries: 0 Start Date: 04/23/2020 Start Time: 06:22 PM EDT Start Location: 2 SW Lake Jackson / Leon County / FL Start Lat/Lon: 30.5181 / -84.3538 End Date: 04/23/2020 End Time: 06:38 PM EDT End Location: 1 WSW Pisgah Church / Leon County / FL End Lat/Lon: 30.5495 / -84.1755 Survey Summary: A tornado touched down just south of North Monroe Street and moved east into a neighborhood where there was widespread limb and tree damage. It likely then crossed over the lake and impacted Elinor Klapp Phipps park where snapped tree trunks were observed. It produced some of the most widespread tree damage, including snapped trucks, near Ox Bottom Road before crossing Thomasville Road. It moved northeast through Killearn Estates and Killearn Acres with additional widespread tree and limb damage and a few spots of snapped and uprooted trees. The last significant damage was additional snapped trees on Bradfordville Road. Additional tree damage was sporadic to the east of here as is likely outflow as the tornado lifted. The highest damage was rated 95 MPH due to snapped trees but the majority of the damage was EF0 type tree damage. ..WAKULLA COUNTY TORNADO... Rating: EF1 Estimated Peak Wind: 90 mph Path Length /statute/: 4.13 miles Path Width /maximum/: 100 yards Fatalities: 0 Injuries: 0 Start Date: 04/23/2020 Start Time: 06:54 PM EDT Start Location: 2 SW Vereen / Wakulla County / FL Start Lat/Lon: 30.2508 / -84.264 End Date: 04/23/2020 End Time: 07:00 PM EDT End Location: 2 ENE Wakulla / Wakulla County / FL End Lat/Lon: 30.2394 / -84.1966 Survey Summary: A tornado touched down just north of Wakulla Springs State Park. The tornado crossed CR 363 , Woodville Highway, just south of Savannah Road, before lifting just east of Early Bird Trail. Damage was primarily snapped and uprooted trees, but at least one tree fell on a home. ..TAYLOR COUNTY TORNADO... Rating: EF1 Estimated Peak Wind: 100 mph Path Length /statute/: 0.51 miles Path Width /maximum/: 25.0 yards Fatalities: 0 Injuries: 0 Start Date: 04/23/2020 Start Time: 07:56 PM EDT Start Location: Jack Lee Island / / FL Start Lat/Lon: 29.8293 / -83.6009 End Date: 04/23/2020 End Time: 08:00 PM EDT End Location: Keaton Beach / Taylor County / FL End Lat/Lon: 29.8293 / -83.5924 Survey Summary: A tornadic water spout came ashore into Keaton Beach and severely damaged a boat rental facility pulling concrete pilings out of the ground. The tornado lifted shortly after that.
