...NWS Damage Survey For 04/24/2020 Tornado Event...

.Overview...Severe storms erupted in Fannin and Lamar Counties on
the evening of April 24th. One storm produced an EF-2 tornado in 
the northwest parts of Fannin County near Ivanhoe. Additional 
pictures and reports we have received will be analyzed next week 
to determine possible additional tornadoes in the eastern parts 
of the county and possibly in western Lamar County. However, no 
damage was found in these other areas from today's ground survey,
and no additional damage reports have been received.

Survey Summary:
A tornado began to the west of Ivanhoe along CR 1120. Minor house
damage and notable tree damage was observed. The tornado was
tracked by tree damage to the east across SH 78. The tornado did 
additional damage to homes, metal structures and trees between SH 
78 and FM 273. The tornado intensified as it approached FM 273 in 
Ivanhoe. To the west of the road, a brick home lost its roof, and 
a double wide was rolled and destroyed. This is where the one 
injury occurred. Farther west of this location, along CR 2210, 
another home sustained roof damage and damage to a large metal 
shop. From this point, the tornado tracked in mostly open land, 
but could be tracked in the trees before dissipating just west of 
CR 2275. This tornado was rated an EF-2 because of the damage to 
the trees and homes in the Ivanhoe area. Maximum winds were around
120 mph.

EF Scale: The Enhanced Fujita Scale classifies tornadoes into the
following categories:

EF0...Weak......65 to 85 mph
EF1...Weak......86 to 110 mph
EF2...Strong....111 to 135 mph
EF3...Strong....136 to 165 mph
EF4...Violent...166 to 200 mph
EF5...Violent...>200 mph
