Information for the tornado that occurred on the morning of April 19th, 2020 in Houston County is located below. We would like to thank Houston County EMA for surveying the damage and coordinating with the NWS in Peachtree City for this survey. .Elko Road (Houston County) Tornado... Rating: EF0 Estimated Peak Wind: 80 mph Path Length /statute/: 0.25 miles Path Width /maximum/: 50 yards Fatalities: 0 Injuries: 0 Start Date: 04/19/2020 Start Time: 11:25 AM EDT Start Location: 1.1 miles SSW of Elko Start Lat/Lon: 32.3164 / -83.7194 End Date: 04/19/2020 End Time: 11:26 AM EDT End Location: 3.5 miles NNE of Unadilla End Lat/Lon: 32.3126 / -83.7216 Storm Summary: A very short-lived, weak tornado embedded within a small line of severe thunderstorms touched down along Elko Road, just south of SR26 in southern Houston County. From what could be seen along the road, scattered trees were either snapped or uprooted in a narrow path about 1/4 mile long mainly on the east side of the road. The trees were mostly falling to the south indicating (and supported by radar) that the brief spin-up tornado was actually anti-cyclonic.
