...NWS DAMAGE SURVEY FOR APRIL 13TH, 2020 TORNADO EVENT...

.Pollocksville, North Carolina Tornado...

Start Location...5 Miles Southeast of Pollocksville in Jones County,
North Carolina End Location...5 Miles Southeast of Pollocksville in
Jones County, North Carolina Date...April 13th, 2020 Estimated
Time...1008 AM EDT Maximum EF-Scale Rating...EF0 Estimated Maximum Wind
Speed...75 to 80 mph Maximum Path Width...60 yards Path Length...0.10
miles Beginning Lat/Lon... 34.958607/-77.153161 Ending Lat/Lon...
34.959156/-77.151959
* Fatalities...0
* Injuries...0

...Summary… The damage path started along Catfish Farm Road, just south
of the intersection with Mill Creek Road and about 5 miles southeast of
Pollocksville or about 2.5 miles northwest of Catfish Lake in Jones
County. In a heavily wooded area, a narrow but convergent path was
found. The damage consisted mainly of smaller trees with a total of 10
to 15 trees that had broken larger limbs or were snapped. While most
of the snapped trees were small, two large and healthy pine trees were
snapped. It was here that maximum winds were estimated at between 75
and 80 mph, an equivalent of an EF0 tornado.

It should be noted that this is likely a continuation of the Maysville
tornado. Due to the heavily wooded and unreachable areas between
Maysville and this location, a continuous path could not be found. In
addition it is likely the path length is longer than what is indicated
above but areas to the northeast of this area were unreachable by
vehicle. This likely concludes the survey for this location unless
aerial information is available at a later date.

EF Scale: The Enhanced Fujita Scale classifies tornadoes into the
following categories:

EF0...Weak......65 to 85 mph EF1...Weak......86 to 110 mph
EF2...Strong....111 to 135 mph EF3...Strong....136 to 165 mph
EF4...Violent...166 to 200 mph EF5...Violent...>200 mph

* The information in this statement is preliminary and subject to
  change pending final review of the event and publication in NWS Storm
  Data.
