Rating: EF-0 Estimated Peak Wind: 85 mph Path Length /statute/: 3.9 miles Path Width /maximum/: 400 yards Fatalities: 0 Injuries: 0 Start Date: Jan 11 2020 Start Time: 452 PM EST Start Location: 1.5 miles NNW of Hiram Start Lat/Lon: 33.9108 / -84.7582 End Date: Jan 11 2020 End Time: 456 PM EST End Location: 4.5 miles N of Powder Springs End Lat/Lon: 33.9291 / -84.6948 Storm Summary: An EF-0 tornado began near Macland Rd west of Hiram-Acworth Highway just north of Hiram in eastern Paulding County and traveled east-northeast for nearly 4 miles into western Cobb County. Most of the damage was weak and intermittent but the most notable occurred on Cristy Dr where a dozen large trees were snapped or uprooted, one of which falling on the master bedroom of a 2-story home. The tornado caused minimal damage as it moved into west Cobb but downed 15-20 trees around Lost Mountain Rd and Kingsbridge Pass including the Oakleigh subdivision. No significant structure damage was observed in this area. Shortly after this point, the tornado lifted. Two other areas of straight-line wind damage were identified. One area occurred along Scoggins Rd south of Dallas in Paulding County where a few trees were downed on Scoggins Rd and on Cole Lake Rd. The other area was located about 5 miles southwest of Kennesaw on Vineyard Rd. in Cobb County. A large sweetgum tree fell onto the bedroom of a two-story home causing significant damage. One of the residents was in the bedroom at the time of the incident but escaped injury. .Fannin County Tornado... Rating: EF-1 Estimated Peak Wind: 100 mph Path Length /statute/: 3.4 miles Path Width /maximum/: 450 yards Fatalities: 0 Injuries: 0 Start Date: Jan 11 2020 Start Time: 524 PM EST Start Location: 7.8 miles WNW of Suches Start Lat/Lon: 34.7415 / -84.1414 End Date: Jan 11 2020 End Time: 527 PM EST End Location: 6.6 miles NW of Suches End Lat/Lon: 34.7619 / -84.0938 Storm Summary: An EF-1 tornado with peak winds of 100 mph began near Deep Hole Campground Rd south of Morganton Hwy (Georgia Hwy 60) and traveled east northeast along Morganton Hwy intensifying and downing hundreds of trees along the highway. A 40 foot steel radio tower at the Fannin County Fire Station was blown down. At least four homes suffered damage from fallen trees. The tornado weakened east it turned northeast along Cooper Creek Rd before finally dissipating near the Union County line near the Davis Family Cemetery off of Mulky Gap Rd west of the USFS Mulky Campground and USFS Camp Merrill RAWS weather station. .Upson County Tornado... Rating: EF-1 Estimated Peak Wind: 90 mph Path Length /statute/: 0.3 miles Path Width /maximum/: 100 yards Fatalities: 0 Injuries: 0 Start Date: Jan 11 2020 Start Time: 548 PM EST Start Location: 5.9 miles SSE of Woodbury Start Lat/Lon: 32.9134 / -84.5255 End Date: Jan 11 2020 End Time: 549 PM EST End Location: 6.0 miles SSE of Woodbury End Lat/Lon: 32.9147 / -84.5198 Storm Summary: An EF-1 tornado with peak winds of 90 mph began near the Flint River on the Upson County side about 6 miles south-southeast of Woodbury and traveled about a third of a mile along the north edge of the river. Approximately 100 trees and several power poles were snapped or downed. A camper was blown over. A boat was blown into a tree. A river home was knocked off its stilts and destroyed by a large tree falling on it. At least one other home sustained damage from tree fall. A tornado debris signature was detected on the NWS Peachtree City doppler radar with this tornado.
