Location...Between Camden and Shawboro, NC Date...May 5 2017 Estimated Time...Approximately 802 AM to 813 AM EDT Maximum EF-Scale Rating...EF0 Estimated Maximum Wind Speed...60 to 70 mph Maximum Path Width...50 to 75 yards Path Length...8 miles (discontinuous) * Fatalities...0 * Injuries...0 * The information in this statement is preliminary and subject to change pending final review of the event(s) and publication in NWS Storm Data. ...Summary... NWS Storm Survey has confirmed damage consistent with an EF0 tornado in Camden and Currituck counties of North Carolina. The tornado track was a discontinuous 8 mile path from just east of Camden along the Pasquotank River near Bushell Road, continuing north-northeast and crossing highway 158 before lifting just west of Shawboro, NC. Minor damage to a few houses was noted on this track at the intersection of Belcross Rd and Pinch Gut Rd. However. no major structural damage was seen. Numerous trees were sheared or snapped along the track. This information can also be found on our website at weather.gov/AKQ.
