...Summary...
The National Weather Service in Blacksburg VA has confirmed a
tornado near Eden in Rockingham County North Carolina on
05/05/2017.

An EF-1 Tornado touched down near the town of Eden and continued
on the ground for roughly 8 minutes before lifting just south of
the Virginia and North Carolina state line. At its maximum, the 
tornado reached a path width of 375 yards and remained on the ground
for roughly 3.3 miles. Estimated wind speeds topped out around 110 
miles per hour, causing damage to trees and buildings.

For reference...the Enhanced Fujita Scale classifies tornadoes
into the following categories:

EF0...wind speeds 65 to 85 mph.
EF1...wind speeds 86 to 110 mph.
EF2...wind speeds 111 to 135 mph.

EF4...wind speeds 166 to 200 mph.
EF5...wind speeds greater than 200 mph.
