A widespread damaging wind event impacted North Texas and parts of Central Texas this morning. A survey team assessed higher end damage in Irving and found evidence of a brief EF-1 tornado. Additional survey teams will assess damage in Wise and Hopkins County on Wednesday. At this time, all other notable damage reported in the DFW area is likely due to pockets of enhanced winds and/or microbursts consistent with winds up to 80-85 mph. We will continue to collect damage reports and assess with radar, but most of the damage reported so far has already been reviewed and logged. .Irving Tornado... Rating: EF1 Estimated Peak Wind: 110 mph Path Length /statute/: 0.42 miles Path Width /maximum/: 85 yards Fatalities: 0 Injuries: 0 Start Date: 03/04/2025 Start Time: 05:24 AM CST Start Location: 3 SSE Irving / Dallas County / TX Start Lat/Lon: 32.8179 / -96.9572 End Date: 03/04/2025 End Time: 05:25 AM CST End Location: 3 SSE Irving / Dallas County / TX End Lat/Lon: 32.8188 / -96.9501 Survey Summary: A brief tornado occurred in Irving within a larger area of wind damage. The tornado was verified with radar data after a ground survey was completed. The tornado began near Pecan Drive, south of West Pioneer Dr. Mostly tree damage was observed along this street. One vehicle was damaged due to falling trees. The tornado then impacted the Tree Country Apartments causing EF-1 wind damage to the roof of nearly every apartment building in the complex. Tree and roof damage was also noted next door at the Learning Tree Academy. Across the street, the Irving Police Family Advocacy Center lost half of its roof and the covering off a second story balcony. The tornado tracked east-northeast from here and dissipated between Cedar Drive and North O'Connor Road. Damage to the La Hacienda Apartments was caused by RFD-type winds at the end of the tornado track.
