857 ACUS41 KWBC 090244 SCCNS1 Storm Summary Number 4 for Central-Southern Rockies Heavy Snow NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 800 PM MST Fri Nov 08 2024 ...WINTER STORM BRINGS HEAVY SNOW TO PORTIONS OF THE ROCKIES... Blizzard warnings are active across portions of northeastern New Mexico. Winter storm warnings remain in effect for central and easterm Colorado and portions of the Texas and Oklahoma Panhandles. Winter weather advisories are in effect for portions of Colorado into southern Wyoming. For a detailed graphical depiction of the latest watches, warnings and advisories, please see www.weather.gov At 700 PM MST...A 1007 mb surface low is situated along the Oklahoma Panhandle with an associated occluded front sweeping southeastward. This surface low is paired with an unusually strong upper low over the Rockies, and deep layered ascent ahead of the upper low over much of eastern Colorado. This is leading to widespread moderate to heavy snow. The latest local radar imagery depicts the heaviest snow currently over southeastern and eastern Colorado, snow tapering off across New Mexico, and some lighter snowfall starting to fall across western Nebraska and southeastern Wyoming. Blizzard Warnings are in effect across the northeast portion of New Mexico, including the Sangre de Cristo mountain range. Expect winds of 35 mph and heavy snow to reduce visibility. Elsewhere, travel conditions will also be dangerous into Saturday morning from northeast New Mexico to southern Colorado. An additional 6-10 inches of snow is possible through Saturday morning, mostly across Colorado. Snowfall accumulations may exceed 4 feet, which may be historic values across regions of the Raton Mesa and Palmer Divide.
