740 WWUS86 KLOX 042140 RFWLOX URGENT - FIRE WEATHER MESSAGE National Weather Service Los Angeles/Oxnard CA 240 PM PDT Fri Sep 4 2020 ...FIRE WEATHER WATCH IN EFFECT FROM SATURDAY EVENING THROUGH MONDAY EVENING FOR GUSTY SUNDOWNER WINDS, LOW RELATIVE HUMIDITY, AND VERY HOT TEMPERATURES FOR THE SANTA BARBARA COUNTY MOUNTAINS AND SOUTH COAST... ...FIRE WEATHER WATCH IN EFFECT FROM SUNDAY EVENING THROUGH MONDAY EVENING FOR GUSTY NORTH WINDS, LOW RELATIVE HUMIDITY, AND VERY HOT TEMPERATURES FOR THE LOS ANGELES AND VENTURA COUNTY MOUNTAINS... .Strong high pressure will bring a dangerous heat wave and low humidities to Southwest California through at least Labor Day. The very hot and unstable conditions will bring a significant threat of large plume dominated fires across the region through Labor Day. While winds will generally be light or terrain driven in most areas, gusty Sundowner winds across southern Santa Barbara county and gusty northerly winds in the Los Angeles and Ventura counties (especially near the Interstate 5 corridor) will bring the potential for critical fire weather concerns to these areas, resulting in the issuance of the Fire Weather Watch. The critically dry fuels in these areas will result in a greater threat of fire ignitions as well as rapid fire growth. With an extremely hot air mass in place, the development of Sundowner winds over the weekend will likely push temperatures even hotter across the south coast of Santa Barbara County and adjacent foothills, where temperatures of 95 to 105 degrees and humidities between 8 and 15 percent will be possible in the foothills and wind prone coastal areas. The National Weather Service in Los Angeles/Oxnard has issued a Fire Weather Watch for gusty sundowner winds, low relative humidity, and very hot temperatures which is in effect from Saturday evening through Monday evening. * Winds...Northwest to north winds 15 to 25 mph with local gusts up to 40 mph Saturday, increasing to 15 to 30 mph with local gusts up to 45 mph Sunday evening and Monday evening. Strongest winds western portions of the Santa Ynez mountains and Santa Barbara south coast. * Relative Humidity...8 to 15 percent in the mountains, foothills, and wind prone coastal areas. * Temperatures...Very hot temperatures each night during times of sundowner winds, ranging between 90 and 105 degrees. * Impacts...If fire ignition occurs, conditions will be favorable for rapid fire spread, long range spotting, and extreme fire behavior which would threaten life and property. In addition to the threat of a wind driven fire, there is a significant threat of large plume dominated fires with extreme fire behavior in areas where winds are lighter. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... A Fire Weather Watch means that there is the potential for critical fire weather conditions. This in combination with critically dry fuels could create extreme fire danger and/or fire behavior && $$ CAZ253-254-051730- /O.NEW.KLOX.FW.A.0002.200907T0100Z-200908T0500Z/ Ventura County Mountains / Los Padres National Forest- Los Angeles County Mountains / Angeles National Forest- 240 PM PDT Fri Sep 4 2020 ...FIRE WEATHER WATCH IN EFFECT FROM SUNDAY EVENING THROUGH MONDAY EVENING FOR GUSTY NORTH WINDS, LOW RELATIVE HUMIDITY, AND VERY HOT TEMPERATURES FOR THE LOS ANGELES AND VENTURA COUNTY MOUNTAINS...
