...NWS METEOROLOGISTS COMPLETE SURVEY FOR SIMPSONVILLE AREA STORM
DAMAGE AND CONCLUDE AN EF1 TORNADO OCCURRED...

The National Weather Service office in Greenville-Spartanburg SC
has completed a storm survey of damage that occurred near 
Simpsonville in Greenville County, South Carolina on April 14, 
2019. It has been determined that this damage was associated with
a severe thunderstorm that produced an EF1 tornado with maximum 
winds of 100mph. The preliminary maximum width of this tornado is
100 yards. The total length of the resultant tornado track has not
yet been determined. A final assessment including the exact tornado
path and length will be issued later this evening.

EF Scale: The Enhanced Fujita Scale classifies tornadoes into the
following categories:

EF0...Weak......65 to 85 mph
EF1...Weak......86 to 110 mph
EF2...Strong....111 to 135 mph
EF3...Strong....136 to 165 mph
EF4...Violent...166 to 200 mph
EF5...Violent...>200 mph
