Tornado touched down along Shaver just south of Fairmont. Numerous
street light poles were snapped and pushed south along Shaver and
a building was destroyed when its west facing wall collapsed. The
tornado then tracked northeast into a residential area where it
did considerable tree damage with large limbs stripped and tree
trunks snapped on a few occasions. Noteable was that some of the
limbs and tree debris were pushed toward the west...counter to the
movement of the squall line. Radar also showed a velocity couplet
over that area at the time.
