state of Michigan that NWS meteorologists have been able to

Survey Summary:
A surge of thunderstorm wind occurred in the Alton area in
Vergennes Twp, near 2 Mile Rd and Alden Nash Ave, to 3 Mile Rd
west of Lincoln Lake Ave, where scattered tree damage was found.
On the northwestern flank of this wind surge, damage was more
evident of a tornado which developed southeast of Murray Lake,
near 4 Mile Rd and Byrne Ave. A farm outbuilding collapsed and
other buildings lost roofing material. Sheet metal was carried
0.4 miles to the north. The tornado downed about 25 trees in
Grattan Twp, along 5 Mile Rd west of Lincoln Lake Ave. About a
dozen more trees were down on the east side of Lincoln Lake Rd
between 5 Mile and 6 Mile Rd. The path ended northeast of 6 Mile
Rd and Lincoln Lake Ave. The tornado was moving with the storm's
gust front at a speed of 60 MPH. There was a gap in concentrated
damage beyond this tornado's end point, though radar data
suggests the broadening wind surge associated with this tornado
combined with another small wind surge which consolidated into
the previously confirmed tornado west of Belding about 4 minutes
later.
