Rating: EF-2 Estimated Peak Wind: 120 mph Path Length /statute/: 11 miles Path Width /maximum/: Unknown Fatalities: 0 Injuries: 0 Start Date: May_24_2022 Start Time: 6:00 PM CDT Start Location: 10 WNW Garden City Start Lat/Lon: 31.888/-101.688 End Date: May_24_2022 End Time: 6:16 PM CDT End Location: 6 SW Garden City End Lat/Lon: 31.788/-101.539 Results from this survey indicate the tornado began shortly before crossing State Highway 158. This tornado lasted about 15 minutes before dissipating after crossing County Road 130. Power poles snapped/completely blown over in opposite direction along Highway 158. A narrow swath of power poles were snapped along County Road 110 and a lone power pole snapped off County Road 130. Video evidence from Highway 158 shows this tornado was multi-vortex with 3 to 4 ground circulations evident. Tornado likely touched down multiple times along the path. Path length and location is estimated by radar and power pole damage locations. .Garden City Severe Wind and Hail Damage... Peak Wind /E/: 85 mph Path Length /statute/: Unknown Path Width /maximum/: Unknown Fatalities: 0 Injuries: 0 Start Date: May_24_2022 Start Time: 6:12 PM CDT Start Location: 3 NW Garden City Start Lat/Lon: 31.881/-101.517 End Date: May_24_2022 End Time: 6:30 PM CDT End Location: 7 SE Garden City End Lat/Lon: 31.786/-101.408 Results from this survey indicated that severe winds occurred, caused by the forward-flanking downdraft/rear-inflow jet. Widespread wind damage was observed across Garden City including snapped/uprooted trees, large branches snapped off, and shingles/metal roofing peeled off. Numerous instances of wind-driven hail damage to siding and windows on the northern and western side of structures across town.
