...RED FLAG WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 6 PM SUNDAY EVENING THROUGH
10 PM MONDAY EVENING FOR THE LOS ANGELES AND VENTURA COUNTY
MOUNTAINS DUE TO GUSTY NORTH WINDS, LOW RELATIVE HUMIDITY, AND
VERY HOT TEMPERATURES...

.Strong high pressure will continue to bring a dangerous heat
wave and low humidities to Southwest California through at least
Labor Day. The very hot and unstable conditions will bring a
significant threat of large plume dominated fires during this
time. Gusty Sundowner winds across southern Santa Barbara county
and gusty northerly winds in the Los Angeles and Ventura county
mountains (especially near the Interstate 5 corridor) will likely
bring critical fire weather conditions to these areas, resulting
in the issuance of the Red Flag Warning. The critically dry fuels
in these areas will result in a greater threat of fire ignitions
as well as rapid fire growth. With an extremely hot air mass in
place, the development of Sundowner winds will likely push
temperatures even hotter across the south coast of Santa Barbara
County and adjacent foothills, where temperatures of 95 to 110
degrees and humidities between 8 and 15 percent will be likely in
the foothills and wind prone coastal areas.

...RED FLAG WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 10 PM PDT MONDAY FOR
THE SANTA BARBARA COUNTY MOUNTAINS AND SOUTH COAST DUE TO GUSTY
SUNDOWNER WINDS, LOW RELATIVE HUMIDITY, AND VERY HOT
TEMPERATURES...

* Winds...Northwest to north winds 15 to 25 mph with local gusts
up to 40 mph tonight, increasing to 15 to 30 mph with local
gusts up to 45 mph Sunday night and Monday night. Strongest
winds western portions of the Santa Ynez mountains and western
canyons and foothills of the Santa Barbara south coast. Winds
will diminish during the daytime hours and become onshore each
day across the coast and foothills.

* Relative Humidity...8 to 15 percent in the mountains,
foothills, and wind prone coastal areas.

* Temperatures...Max temperatures 95 to 110 degrees each day
through Monday, warmest in the foothills, lower mountains, and
windy canyons. Hot temperatures into the 90s and lower 100's
will linger through the nighttime hours during the sundowner
  winds.

* Impacts...If fire ignition occurs, conditions will be
favorable for rapid fire spread, long range spotting, and
extreme fire behavior which would threaten life and property.
In addition to the threat of a wind driven fire, there is a
significant threat of large plume dominated fires with extreme
fire behavior in areas where winds are lighter.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions
are either occurring now....or will shortly. A combination of
gusty winds...low relative humidity...very hot temperatures, and
critically dry fuels can contribute to rapid fire spread and
extreme fire behavior. Use extreme caution with potential fire
ignition sources. Prepare now and assemble your emergency kits.
