.DISCUSSION...Northwest flow on the back side of an upper trough
will help to keep temperatures below normal today, with generally
clear skies across northern California and southern Oregon.
Lingering cooler air and clear skies look to allow for possible
frost development in east side valleys and basins early Tuesday
morning. Localized freezing conditions are possible in especially
cold areas, but these are not widely expected. Please see NPWMFR for
more details on this product.

Warmer and drier conditions remain in the forecast for the middle of
the week, with relatively seasonable temperatures expected for
Tuesday and Thursday. Wednesday will be the warmest day, with highs
reaching 5 to 10 degrees above normal for most areas. This will put
coastal cities in the mid to high 70s. Most west side valleys look
to be somewhere in the 90s and parts of the Klamath River Valley
could exceed 100 degrees. To the east, Klamath and Lake counties are
forecast to be in the low to mid 80s while Modoc and eastern
Siskiyou counties could reach the high 80s. Overnight easterly flow
could bring moderate to locally poor recoveries to areas peaks and
ridgelines through the middle of the week as well.

An upper pattern change remains in the forecast on Friday as an
upper trough starts to swing over the area, with the low pressure
system within that trough moving over on Saturday and Sunday.
Temperatures drop just below normal levels on Friday, with
additional cooling on Saturday and Sunday. Depending on how deep the
trough is, elevated west to southwest winds are possible, especially
east of the Cascades. A deeper path may also allow for light
precipitation, with current model runs showing increasing confidence
for showers over North Bend and Roseburg. Even with the trend upward,
weekend precipitation chances for Coos and Douglas counties are
currently limited to 20-40%. -TAD

.AVIATION...07/18Z TAFs...With ceilings clear over North Bend and
clearing over Roseburg, VFR levels should continue through much of
the day. Gusty winds are expected along the coast this afternoon,
then easing into the evening. Periods of MVFR or IFR ceilings are
possible along the coast later in the evening, but offshore flow
overnight would limit its duration. Guidance suggests development is
possible around 05Z, but current confidence is not high enough to
include those clouds in the North Bend TAF forecast. -TAD

.MARINE...Updated 200 PM PDT Monday, September 7, 2026...Gusty north
winds and steep wind seas south of Port Orford will expand northward
to Cape Arago tonight, then across all of the waters Tuesday through
Tuesday night. Winds briefly diminish Wednesday. Then, gusty north
winds and steep seas may return Thursday and Friday, mainly for
areas south of Cape Blanco.
