Regional Weather Summary
National Weather Service State College PA
805 PM EDT Fri Apr 17 2026

Quiet weather conditions are expected for tonight as a high
pressure noses in from the Northeast, with much of Pennsylvania
remaining under mainly clear skies. An exception is across the
eastern 1/3 of the state, where onshore flow will bring in low
clouds and patchy mist overnight. Nighttime temperatures remain
mild for this time of year, with lows ranging from the lower 50s
across the Northern Tier, to the upper 50s across the Pittsburgh
and Philadelphia metros.

Unseasonably warm temperatures are expected once again on
Saturday as southerly winds continue to draw mild air over the
region ahead of a cold front. A band of showers and thunderstorms
associated with this front will develop across western
Pennsylvania in the afternoon, with locally strong to severe
storms being possible. The primary risk will be damaging winds, with
potential impacts including downed trees and power
lines. These storms will weaken into rain showers after sunset as
the front moves across central and eastern PA.

Much cooler conditions are expected in the wake of this front,
with frost/freeze potential Monday & Tuesday mornings. Drier
postfrontal weather is expected except for a few lake-effect and
upslope rain/snow showers over the Allegheny Plateau. A return to
milder temperatures is expected mid-week.
