Regional Weather Summary
National Weather Service State College PA
1104 PM EST Tue Dec 23 2025

Slow clearing is expected tonight for most of the Commonwealth,
but the clouds will hang on longer over the Allegheny Plateau.
Breezy conditions can be expected over all but the deeper valleys
of the east overnight. Gusts into the 40s are possible in the
Poconos and 20s and 30s elsewhere. Low temperatures will range
from the mid 20s in the northwestern Alleghenies to the mid 30s in
southeastern Pennsylvania.

Wednesday should hold excellent travel weather. Expect fair skies
with highs close to 30 degrees in the northern tier, but in the
mid 40s along the southern tier. A weak weather system will clip
the southwestern half of the state late on Christmas Eve and early
Christmas morning. Most of the precipitation will be rainfall,
but some freezing rain cannot be ruled out completely for the
central mountains early Christmas morning. Temperatures on Christmas
morning will be in the 20s in the north-central and northeastern
mountains, and in the lower 30s for the southern half of the
state.

Christmas day will turn out fair over the balance of the
Commonwealth despite an increasing northwest wind. Apart from the
early morning rain, only a little drizzle is expected in the
Laurel Highlands in the afternoon.

Expect a colder end to the week along with the potential for a
significant amount of mixed precipitation Friday into Friday
night. The increasing risk of accumulating snow and ice accretion
could result in considerable post-Christmas travel disruptions.

Temperatures will warm up on Saturday and Sunday, but will likely
be followed by a blast of much colder air and blustery wind for
early next week.
