.SHORT TERM...
(This afternoon through Saturday)
Issued at 1144 AM CST Tue Dec 23 2025

Warm conditions are expected through the end of the week, and the
main headline continues to be the potential for record warmth
each day and night. Both DFW and Waco are forecasted to be very
close to or above record warm overnight lows and daytime highs
several days this week, starting tonight and continuing through
Saturday.

An upper level ridge continues to strengthen over the region
today and will remain persistent through the end of the week.
Southerly flow will keep ample moisture/humidity in place through
the end of the week, but as our low level flow shifts more
southwesterly later in the week, some minor drying will occur.
Fairly widespread cloudy conditions are expected again Wednesday
morning, but over the next few days, the morning clouds are likely
to be more confined to areas south of I-20 and/or east of I-45 due
to more southwesterly winds above the surface.

Fog is expected tonight, mainly along and south of I-20. The
coverage in North Texas is expected to be patchy, but more
widespread coverage is likely in Central Texas. Some areas of
Central Texas may have some dense fog for just a few hours after
sunrise Wednesday morning, and a Dense Fog Advisory may be needed.
Some patchy fog is expected again across parts of Central Texas
Thursday/Christmas morning, with another round of patchy fog in
our southeast Friday morning.

.LONG TERM...
(Saturday night through next Tuesday)
Issued at 1144 AM CST Tue Dec 23 2025

A drastic change in temperatures will occur Sunday as a strong
cold front plows through the region, bringing gusty north winds
and temperatures that are 15-20 degrees cooler than this week. It
will certainly feel more like winter as overnight lows Sunday
night fall into the lower 30s to near 40 degrees, with high
temperatures on Monday currently forecasted in the mid 40s to mid
50s. Outdoor decorations will need to be secured Sunday and
temperature sensitive plants will need to covered Sunday night,
especially north and west of the DFW Metroplex where overnight
lows will fall into the lower 30s. As the front moves through on
Sunday, there is a low chance for showers across the eastern 1/4
of our CWA.

.AVIATION...
(18Z TAFS)
Issued at 1144 AM CST Tue Dec 23 2025

Low-end VFR sct-bkn cigs will remain across the region through
mid afternoon, and then the overall coverage should be reduced for
the remainder of the day. IFR and MVFR cigs will return late
tonight/early Wednesday morning. IFR cigs and reduced visibilities
due to fog are expected at KACT starting around 10Z. Low MVFR cigs
are expected in the DFW Metroplex around 11-12Z. There is a low
chance for IFR cigs at the Metroplex airports, and we will
continue to monitor this potential. Conditions will improve in the
late morning hours.
