.DISCUSSION...through next Tuesday.

Little change in the overall synoptic pattern is forecast into the
weekend as a broad ridge of high pressure remains firmly in place
over the western US. This will maintain well above normal
temperatures through the end of the week, with a few locations
nearing or exceeding daily records through Friday. See the CLIMATE
section below for more information. A weak trough centered over
northern Mexico will allow for one more day of enhanced northerly
winds across portions of the lower Colorado River Valley, primarily
south of Davis Dam. While winds will be a bit lighter today compared
to yesterday, a few gusts to 30 mph and waves of 1 to 2 feet will be
possible from Laughlin/Bullhead City to Needles. Given the isolated
nature of these conditions, no headlines are planned. However,
outdoor recreation and marine interests should continue to use extra
caution, particularly near and south of Davis Dam.

Over the weekend and early next week, the ridge will flatten as a
shortwave embedded within the mean flow tracks across southern
California, Arizona, and northern Mexico. While no precipitation is
anticipated with this feature, an increase in high cloud cover is
expected, which will also help lower temperatures by several
degrees. A slight increase in moisture levels moving into central
California early next week may bring a few light snow showers to the
higher elevations of the Sierra in northern Inyo County.

.AVIATION...For Harry Reid...For the 18Z Forecast Package...Winds
under 8KT will follow typical diurnal directional patterns
through the forecast period, with some variability. VFR conditions
with clear skies will prevail.

For the rest of southern Nevada, northwest Arizona and southeast
California...For the 18Z Forecast Package...Across the region, winds
will remain under 10KT, following typical terrain-driven and diurnal
directional patterns. The exception will be along the Lower Colorado
River Valley where channeling of winds will result in elevated
sustained speeds of 12-18KT, with IFP seeing gusts to 20-30KT
through late this evening. VFR conditions otherwise prevail.
