505 FXUS65 KVEF 041019 AFDVEF Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Las Vegas NV 220 AM PST Thu Dec 4 2025 .KEY MESSAGES... * Dry and mild weather will return to the region starting tomorrow. && .DISCUSSION...through Tuesday. The Lake Wind Advisory for Lake Mead and Lake Mohave will remain in effect through 6:00 pm PST / 7:00 MST this evening. 15 to 25 mph northerly winds accompanied by wind gusts up to 35 to 40 mph have been observed over the southern portion of Lake Mohave, extending south towards Needles, CA. These winds will result in choppy waves between 1 to 3 feet, making for hazardous boating conditions for smaller watercraft. Outside of the Lake Mead National Recreation Area, breezy northerly winds will continue through the afternoon before decreasing during the evening and overnight hours. Northerly winds will linger down the Colorado River Valley tomorrow, decreasing as we head into the weekend. As the shortwave responsible for today's breezy north winds clears out of the Southwestern US tomorrow, we will find ourselves under dry, northwesterly flow aloft. This northwesterly flow will persist through early next week as the high amplitude ridge remains parked in the Gulf of Alaska. This northwesterly flow will allow for dry conditions to persist and temperatures to gradually warm back with warmer than normal temperatures returning over the weekend. && .AVIATION...For Harry Reid...For the 12Z Forecast Package... North to northeast winds will prevail through much of the afternoon with speeds remaining 8 knots or less. VFR conditions through the period with just some occasional high clouds at times. For the rest of southern Nevada, northwest Arizona and southeast California...For the 12Z Forecast Package...Winds today will remain north to northeast across most areas with winds generally less than 10 knots, with the exception of KEED and KIFP where northerly winds 10-20 knots will persist.
