.KEY MESSAGES...

* Northwest flow aloft will continue to bring periods of north
  winds and cooler temperatures to the region through the week.

.DISCUSSION...Today through Monday.

Freeze Warnings are in effect through 8am PST this morning to mark 
the first freeze of the season for eastern Inyo County including 
Shoshone / Tecopa (currently at 36 degrees), northeastern Clark 
County including Mesquite and Moapa (currently at 37 degrees), and 
southern / central Mohave County including Kingman (currently at 34 
degrees). The northwest flow aloft will usher an inside slider-type 
system into the southern Great Basin and Mojave Desert midweek, 
which will increase gusty northerly winds across the forecast area. 
Gust speeds will generally range from 15 to 25 mph, with speeds 
between 25 and 35 mph possible in north-south oriented valleys 
Wednesday and Thursday. Temperatures will gradually increase late-
week into the weekend, reaching above-normal values by Friday.

.AVIATION...For Harry Reid...For the 18Z Forecast Package...Winds
will remain under 10 knots, following typical diurnal directional
trends through Wednesday morning. Winds will shift to the north 
and pick up on Wednesday morning with northerly wind gusts 
continuing through the afternoon. VFR conditions will prevail 
through the TAF period with FEW to BKN clouds AOA 15 kft filtering
through the area. 

For the rest of southern Nevada, northwest Arizona and southeast
California...For the 18Z Forecast Package... Across the region, 
winds generally remain around 5-10KT through tonight, following 
typical diurnal directional patterns. The exception to this is the
western Mojave Desert, where westerly winds prevail, increasing 
to 12-15KT this evening. Beginning later tonight, northerly to 
northwesterly winds will begin to push through the area from 
northwest to southeast. 10 to 15 knot sustained winds with 15 to 
25 knot gusts will accompany this wind shift. VFR conditions will 
prevail with increasing mid and high clouds between 15-25kft 
filtering through the area &&
