.SHORT TERM...
(Tonight through Thursday night)
Issued at 1114 PM CST Tue Nov 25 2025

Winds have dropped off substantially from yesterday afternoon.
With nearly calm winds and clear skies overnight, sunrise
temperatures should have no problem dropping below freezing. A
cool start is expected with a surface high exiting to the east
allowing for some breezy southwest winds (mainly western
Panhandles) to pick up in the afternoon. H85 temperatures are
progged to rise from 3 degrees C in the morning to around 5 to 6
degrees C by sunset. Despite the warmer H85 temperatures winds are
expected to drop off tonight once again allowing the surface to
cool and keep the H85 temperatures from mixing to the surface.
Therefore, temperatures are expected to drop below freezing across
the combined Panhandles once again tonight into Thursday morning.
Thursday's afternoon temperatures are only expected to be a few
degrees warmer than today with light east to southeasterly winds.
Thursday night, temps are expected to be slightly warmer. The
southern TX Panhandle is also likely to stay just above freezing
going into Friday morning, between 33 and 35 degrees, as winds
pick up to around 10 mph allowing some warmer temperatures to mix
to the surface.

.LONG TERM...
(Friday through next Tuesday)
Issued at 1114 PM CST Tue Nov 25 2025

Friday, under quasi-zonal flow and before the next upper level
system is to come through, afternoon temperatures are expected to
be their warmest for a while. Some temperatures in the lower 60s
are progged across the western FA for Friday afternoon with mid
50s in the east. Saturday, expecting an upper level trough to
swing into the area sending a cold front Saturday with strong CAA.
Not only are temperatures in question with this cold front but
also how breezy the winds will be behind it. Have already blended
towards the NBM25 for daytime highs Saturday and pumped up winds a
couple of knots. Although, there will still a potential for
increases in the winds. The NBM probs have about a 10 to 20
percent chance of Amarillo seeing a wind gust up to 45 mph
Saturday behind the front.

This front on Saturday is expected to knock H85 temperatures down
from around 3 degrees C in the morning to around 0 to -6 degrees
C by sunset. This cold air mass is progged to stick around for a
while with lows in the teens to lower 20s Sat, Sun, and Mon night.
Likewise, afternoon highs on Sun and Mon are only expected to
reach the lower 40s for the warmest spots in the Panhandles.

The OK Panhandle and far eastern TX Panhandle may see around a 10
percent chance for some light showers Friday night. However, it
is nothing to write home about at this time. The time frame that
will be watched closely for precipitation chances will be Sun
night into Mon morning with a slight chance for some snow. There
is still a lot of uncertainty with models and prospect for snow at
this time. The best moisture may completely miss the area, or the
FA may only see small amount around a trace to less than half an
inch.

.AVIATION...
(18Z TAFS)
Issued at 1129 AM CST Wed Nov 26 2025

As of early this afternoon, present satellite was seen a cloud
deck spread across the Panhandles. At this time, this deck is
expected to keep conditions at terminals scatter to broken through
the package, but still within VFR levels. Otherwise, look for some
breezy southwesterly to southerly surface winds through the
afternoon with potential to see a rouge gust around 25kt.
