.DISCUSSION...
Issued at 204 PM EDT Fri Oct 24 2025

Light winds and mainly clear skies for much of the night should
allow temps to fall to near freezing CWA-wide early Saturday with
frost anticipated within a low level ridge axis. Only limiting
factor could be some mid-high level clouds overspreading later
tonight. Opted for a FZ.W for our IN and OH counties.

A lower amplitude shortwave, currently near the North Dakota and
Manitoba border, will dampen southeast through the western and lower
Great Lakes Saturday into Saturday night. This wave will bring mid-
high level clouds to the area during this time, also acting to block
an upper low and more appreciable moisture to the southwest across
the southern Plains east toward the MO/AR border. The result
should be dry wx and seasonably cool easterly winds locally this
weekend.

A complex upper level pattern looks to materialize next week with an
model consensus favoring primarily dry/cool low level easterly
flow between high pressure to the north and disorganized low
pressure drifting east toward the TN and lower OH Valleys.
Additional pacific jet energy and a leading pv anomaly does look
to induce cyclogenesis somewhere over the OH/TN Valleys mid
week, potentially transferring to an east coast system.
Confidence in details is very low on how this system evolves. At
this point, troughing does look to dominate for the mid-late
week periods with temps averaging below seasonal normals. A
model consensus would favor better prospects for soaking rains
to be south and east of the region, though daily chances for sct
showers can't be ruled out as numerous smaller scale vorts
swing through the trough axis.

.AVIATION /18Z TAFS THROUGH 18Z SATURDAY/...
Issued at 124 PM EDT Fri Oct 24 2025

As the upper trough affecting the area departs eastward today,
expect lake effect clouds to shut off and allow continued
prevailing VFR flight conditions. Mid level WAA approaches
Saturday morning and that will allow mid-high level clouds to
come in, but CIGs should stay in VFR threshold. Radiative
cooling tonight is expected to allow for frost and may lower
VISBY some, but it's not expected to create widespread MVFR
conditions so will leave it out of this issuance. North winds
today go light to calm tonight, but become easterly on Saturday
as high pressure pushes through the area today and ends up to
our east on Saturday.
