.DISCUSSION /Through Thursday/...
Issued at 212 PM MDT Thu Sep 25 2025

The upper level ridge over Colorado will shift slowly east through
Saturday, but dominate our weather with dry and mild conditions.
Temperatures will remain several degrees above normal Friday, but
a backdoor cold front will offer up several degrees of cooling by
Saturday - knocking daytime highs back closer to normal.

By Sunday, the upper level ridge will continue to shift eastward,
allowing some influence from a shearing upper level low in the
Desert Southwest. This latter feature is expected to weaken
considerably as it lifts across the back side of the ridge, but
will certainly bring an increase in mid/upper level moisture along
with weak upper level support. Thus, scattered showers and storms
should be able to develop and lift north/northeast across the
mountains Sunday afternoon and evening. However, the plains and
I-25 Corridor will be more stable with only high based showers/
sprinkles or an isolated weak storm possible. The same can be
said for Monday, although lift could increase further depending on
timing and remaining intensity of the trough kicking across the
Central Rockies.

There's rather good agreement that subsequent drying will occur
Tuesday behind Monday's "more significant" shortwave. It appears
this will bring a return of generally dry weather for Tuesday and
Wednesday. Some uncertainty exists in this period though, so still
enough to keep a slight chance of showers in the mountain
forecast. Ensembles show good agreement that temperatures will
remain above normal for this period, with highs averaging the mid
70s to lower 80s for the I-25 Corridor and plains.
