Near record temperatures are forecast for both Colorado Springs and Pueblo, and both population centers have been included in Heat Advisories that span across El Paso, Pueblo, Crowley, Otero, Kiowa, Bent, Prowers, and eastern Fremont counties from 10 AM through 9 PM today. Please check on friends and neighbors, and never leave children or pets alone in cars. Those prone to heat related illness should limit time outdoors today! High fire danger is also expected today. Hot, dry and windy conditions will spread across the entire forecast area, with Red Flag Warnings in effect for our central and western mountains where fuels are also critical. Please avoid any activities that could start a fire today, especially in our central and western mountains! Isolated showers and thunderstorms will also be possible today, mainly across our southern and eastern plains along a line extending from the southern Sangres out towards Lamar. Damaging winds with gusts to 60 mph will be possible with storms today, along with frequent lightning. .DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Saturday through Thursday Dangerous heat continues over our plains, where Heat Advisories have been issued for Saturday over El Paso, Pueblo, Crowley, Otero, Kiowa, Bent, Prowers, and eastern Fremont counties from 10 AM through 9 PM. Hot, dry, and windy conditions also look to persist, with another round of Red Flag Warnings in effect over our central and western mountains for Saturday, and a Fire Weather Watch for Sunday. Please avoid activities that could start a fire this weekend! Thunderstorm chances return to the forecast as well, with isolated chances through the weekend and increasing moisture heading into next week. Chances for showers and storms quickly increase after a cold front on Monday, with daily precipitation expected through most of the work week. Thunderstorms are mainly expected to bring gusty wind and frequent lightning, along with some small hail. .SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT...
