...New SHORT TERM, LONG TERM...

.SHORT TERM...
(Today through Monday Night )
Issued at 250 AM CDT Sun Sep 10 2023

NERLY SFC flow will continue to usher in dry air to the state
through tonight...with warm conditions expected this Sun afternoon.
Highs will be in the upper 70s to upper 80s. Lows tonight will drop
down into the upper 50s to mid 60s...with dry conditions continuing.

NWRLY flow aloft on Sun will transition to a more zonal flow for
Mon...with a weak upper disturbance approaching from the west. While
flow near the SFC will remain generally from the north...will see
some increasing chances for convection for Mon into Mon night as
this disturbance approaches AR. Given no substantial moisture
increase ahead of this system...don't think widespread beneficial
rainfall will be seen in the short term period. Have isolated to
scattered showers...with a few thunderstorms also
forecast...especially Mon night. Looks like better chances for
precip will come on Tue.

.LONG TERM...
(Tuesday through Saturday)
Issued at 250 AM CDT Sun Sep 10 2023

An upper trough moves into the Great Lakes region early Tuesday and
builds south to the Gulf Coast by late Tuesday. This trough will
move east Wednesday. An upper ridge builds into the Plains Thursday
and Friday. An upper trough develops in the Plains Saturday as the
ridge moves toward the east coast.

A cold front will move through the state Tuesday. This will bring a
chance of showers and thunderstorms to the area Tuesday. The best
rain chances for the week will be on Tuesday. As the upper level
trough departs the area Wednesday there will be a chance of showers
and thunderstorms across the west and south. Scattered showers and
thunderstorms are expected Thursday and Friday as a pair of short
waves move through. Below normal temperatures are anticipated
through the period.
