Weather Summary for Puerto Rico
National Weather Service San Juan PR
515 PM AST Thu Feb 9 2023

A large northerly swell is causing hazardous seas and life-
threatening conditions along the north-facing beaches of Puerto
Rico. This swell is producing breaking waves of 14 to 18 feet and
occasionally higher, resulting in dangerous rip currents, high
surf conditions and coastal flooding along the most vulnerables
areas. Seas will be deteriorated through early in the weekend.
Seas are 10 to 12 feet across the Atlantic waters, and 6 to 10
feet for the passages and offshore Caribbean waters. Small craft
advisories are in effect for these areas.

Showers developed in the afternoon over southwestern Puerto Rico,
leaving up to an inch of rain in Cabo Rojo. Elsewhere, breezy
conditions and passing showers were observed in general. Maximum
temperatures were in the mid to upper 80s across coastal areas.
Winds were from the northeast at 15 to 20 mph with gusts in the
mid 30s.

For tonight, breezy conditions along coastal areas are possible
with trade wind showers moving at times across the eastern and
northern sections of Puerto Rico. Minimum temperatures will be in
the upper 50s across the higher elevations to the low 70s in
coastal areas.
