Area Forecast Discussion
National Weather Service Boise ID
224 PM MDT Sun Oct 16 2022

.SHORT TERM...Tonight through Tuesday night...Not much change to
the pattern and subsequent weather conditions through the period.
A large area of high pressure will continue to support dry and
stable conditions with light winds and above-normal temperatures.

.LONG TERM...Wednesday through Sunday...The pattern change is
still on track for next weekend. Models agree that the upper level
ridge, which continues to provide dry and unseasonably warm
weather, will be replaced on Saturday by an upper level trough
from the Gulf of Alaska. Precipitation ahead of the trough is
forecast to begin over our northern zones Friday evening, then
spread across the rest of our area by Saturday morning. Scattered
rain and snow showers will continue through Sunday. Precipitation
totals are currently estimated to range from less than two tenths
of an inch in the valleys to around three quarters of an inch in
the central Idaho mountains, mostly falling Friday night and
Saturday morning. Snow levels are expected to drop to 3500-4500
feet by Sunday morning, but accumulations are still uncertain.
Highs will lower from around 10 degrees above normal Wednesday
through Friday to near normal on Saturday and around 5 degrees
below normal on Sunday. Lows will be 5-10 degrees above normal
Wednesday through Saturday, then fall to near normal on Sunday.

reduced visibility, mainly in Baker County Oregon and the west
central Idaho mountains. Surface winds: mainly E-SE 10 kt or less,

of KMUO, decreasing to 10 kt or less all areas after 03z. Winds
