334 FXUS63 KUNR 071715 AFDUNR Area Forecast Discussion For Western SD and Northeastern WY National Weather Service Rapid City SD 1115 AM MDT Fri Oct 7 2022 .DISCUSSION...(Today Through Thursday) Issued at 210 AM MDT Fri Oct 7 2022 Western NOAM ridge will remain anchored into early next week with periodic front side impulses advecting through the Northern Plains. Sfc high is shifting SE across the Northern Plains this morning, with the associated shallow cold layer banked up against the western high plains. Areas of fog and drizzle continue INVOF the Black Hills, with return flow helping to sustain these conditions. Sfc high will shift east today with dry air and mixing eroding the clouds, fog and drizzle this morning. There may be a few stubborn areas where low clouds hang on into the afternoon along the east slopes of the BH, including the Rapid City area, given ESE ll flow. Otherwise, warmer conds on track for today with plenty of sun over much of the area. Warming trend will continue into Sat with highs in the 60s expected for most of the region. Another impulse will cross the region Sat night, with the only local affect being a response to winds across NW SD. Warming will continue Sunday into Monday (along with dry conds) with highs in the 60s and 70s both days, warmest Monday. Deeper trough and associated cold front still on track for the middle of next week as a more progressive pattern ensues with periodic cold fronts and breezy winds at times.
