Shower chances return today with much cooler temperatures through the weekend. && .NEAR TERM /THROUGH TONIGHT/... Isolated to scattered light showers and sprinkles may accompany a cold front the will cross the region today. With limited instability and moisture depth, any rain is expected to be light. The front will be through most of the region by afternoon, with cold and dry advection inhibiting temperature recovery. && .SHORT TERM /SATURDAY THROUGH SUNDAY/... Sfc high pres, under broad, high amplitude ern CONUS troughing, will support a dry, but chilly weekend for the region. Expect temperature approx 10 degrees under the early October averages, with widespread frost possible on Sunday morning. && .LONG TERM /SUNDAY NIGHT THROUGH THURSDAY/... Models indicate continued dry weather with moderating temperature early next week as warm advection/rising heights ensue in response to an advancing Plains trough. The approach and passage of that feature will bring the next rain chance by mid week. && .AVIATION /12Z FRIDAY THROUGH TUESDAY/... Condition deterioration to widespread MVFR should ensue with the approach and passage of a cold front.
