This bulk download tool provides the NWS text
in a raw form, hopefully directly usable by your processing system.
You can either provide a complete 6-character PIL/AFOS ID or provide
the 3-character base ID (e.g., AFD). The start and end
dates represent 00 UTC for those dates. The Zip format is useful as
the filenames will have the product timestamp, which is useful for
when the product format has ambiguous timestamps.
997 FXUS65 KBOI 081531 AFDBOI Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Boise ID 931 AM MDT Wed Jun 8 2022 .DISCUSSION...An area of showers is moving ENE across eastern Oregon and southwest Idaho this morning, with the heaviest showers over northern Malheur County as of 9:30 AM MDT. Light rain should get as far east as Boise between then and Noon. This afternoon, showers will move off to the northeast, but new showers and isolated thunderstorms will develop from Baker County east through the West Central Mountain zone. We will do an update to increase the chance of precipitation this afternoon and bring it farther south. No other changes planned at this time. && .AVIATION...VFR. Mostly cloudy with scattered showers through the evening mainly north of a line from KBNO-KBOI. Areas of mountain obscuration. Thunderstorms developing after Wed/21z near KBKE. Surface winds: NW-NE 5-15kt. Winds aloft at 10kft MSL: W-SW 10-20kt. && .PREV DISCUSSION... SHORT TERM...Today through Friday night...Pacific trough will weaken as it comes inland into a stronger upper ridge anchored over the interior western US. The trough will bring widespread middle and high clouds but showers and isolated late-day thunderstorms will be confined to Baker County and the west central Idaho Mountains. Showers will exit east late tonight, and clouds will decrease from the west Thursday. Another Pacific trough will bring more clouds and slight chance of showers and late-day thunderstorms to our far northern mountains Friday and Friday night. The two Pacific troughs will flatten but not dislodge the upper ridge over the interior western US, so our CWA will continue to gradually warm through Friday. However, due to the greater cloud cover we lowered forecast max temps a couple degrees for today. Thursday will be sunnier and warmer, and warmer again in the south Friday. Northern areas will be slightly cooler with more clouds Friday. Winds will be light diurnal through Friday night. LONG TERM...Saturday through Wednesday...Showers and thunderstorms will increase on Saturday afternoon ahead of a cold front. Temperatures will cool around 10-15 degrees behind the cold front, with scattered showers and thunderstorms over the area through Monday. Models have significant precipitation with this system, as precipitable water values will be in the 95th-98th percentile for this time of year, which is around 1.00 inch at Boise. The potential of flash flooding will exist with values this high. Cooler and dry conditions Tuesday and Wednesday with temperatures around 5-10 degrees below normal. && .BOI WATCHES/WARNINGS/ADVISORIES... ID...None.
