Area Forecast Discussion
National Weather Service Denver/Boulder CO
158 PM MST Sun Nov 28 2021

.SHORT TERM...(This evening through Monday)
Issued at 200 PM MST Sun Nov 28 2021

Plenty of upper level cloudiness is flowing south-southeastward
across the CWA at this time.

Models have high pressure aloft over all the southwestern United
States, with weak northwesterly flow aloft for the CWA tonight
and Monday. The synoptic scale energy is neutral for the CWA. The
airmass looks to stay dry in the lower levels these first two
periods. The models aren't doing a good job with the upper level
moisture that looks to continue to move across the CWA tonight
into Monday. That cloudiness could have some effect on
temperatures. No pops. Winds should be fairly weak with normal
diurnal trends. For temperatures, Monday's highs should be 1-2 C
warmer than this afternoon's. Could see a high around 70 F at DIA
on Monday. The record high for November 29th in Denver is 74 F.
That should not be in jeopardy.

.LONG TERM...(Monday night through Sunday)
Issued at 136 PM MST Sun Nov 28 2021

A weak upper level trough and associated cool front will affect the
area on Tue. Cross-sections show limited moisture with the trough
so don't expect any precip from it. Temperatures will be cooler
behind the front, however, readings will still be 8 to 12 degrees
above normal.

For Wed and Thu, WNW flow aloft will be over the area. There will
likely be some higher level moisture embedded in the flow, however,
oustide of some cloudiness at times, no precip is expected.
Temperatures Wed and Thu could get close to record highs for early
December across portions of nern CO.

On Fri, dry WNW flow aloft will remain over the area. The ECMWF has
a cool front backdooring into nern CO while the GFS keeps this front
further to the northeast. Thus, depending on whether this front
affects the plains, highs on Friday could be 10 to 15 degrees cooler
across the plains or near record highs again. Fow now have gone
with a blended solution.

By next Sat, the flow aloft will continue WNW, with little moisture
shown in the cross-sections. Thus expect another dry day with above
normal temperatures.
