(18Z TAFS) Issued at 1122 AM CST Mon Nov 8 2021 Winds will generally range from the southeast to the southwest with some gusts possible this afternoon. Low ceilings are possible for MAF, INK, and HOB beginning around 12z but confidence is too low to include at this time. && .SHORT TERM... (This afternoon through Tuesday night) Issued at 130 PM CST Mon Nov 8 2021 Upper ridging is currently centered over much of the Gulf Coast. An upper trough begins to impact the West Coast Tuesday morning. West Texas and Southeast New Mexico will remain under westerly flow aloft through the day on Tuesday. High temperatures today and Tuesday will mostly be in the 70s and 80s across the area with temperatures slightly cooler on Tuesday due to a weak cold front/northerly wind shift. Low temperatures tonight will range from the 40s to the 60s. No precipitation is expected in the short term. && .LONG TERM... (Wednesday through Sunday) Issued at 130 PM CST Mon Nov 8 2021 On Tuesday night the upper ridge slides east as an upper trough comes across AZ/NM and into the area early Wednesday. On Wednesday night A deep upper low will move down out of Canada into the Northern Plains as a ridge builds off the CA coast Thursday. The Canadian low and the previous trough will merge. On Friday W TX/SE NM will be stuck between the broad trough to the east and the ridge to the west. The trough will move off to the East Coast Saturday as the ridge builds into the area. The trough on Wednesday will push a Pacific front through the area with the wind becoming westerly and gusty during the afternoon... could see close to high wind at GDP. Above normal temperatures will continue Wednesday before a polar front comes down on the backside of the surface low late Wednesday. S wind briefly returns Thursday before another cold front blows in Friday. Could see some freezing temperatures north on Saturday morning but currently does not look to be in any areaS that have not already had a freeze this season.
