Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Wrn Montana and N Cntrl Idaho
National Weather Service Missoula MT
303 PM MDT Thu Sep 9 2021

...RED FLAG WARNING IN EFFECT UNTIL 9 PM MDT THIS EVENING for
Deerlodge/West Beaverhead...East Beaverhead...

.DISCUSSION...

Idaho: A few showers are possible this evening into the overnight hours.
They initially won't bring much rain, but could bring some gusty outflow
winds. A pattern change is still on track for tomorrow, with showers and
thunderstorms developing through Friday afternoon and evening. On top of
the threat of gusty winds with storms, wetting rains still look likely.
In fact, much of the area should see between 0.25" to 0.50" by Saturday
morning. A few thunderstorms Friday afternoon could produce locally
heavy rain, which may cause run off on recent burn scars. Cool and
relatively moist conditions are anticipated Saturday with improved air
quality. Near normal temperatures, with breezy and dry afternoons are
anticipated for much of next week, though not as dry as this week.

Montana: For the Beaverhead/Deerlodge NF...Critical fire weather
conditions are still anticipated through early evening due to gusty
winds and low RHs. A few showers are possible this evening into the
overnight hours. They initially won't bring much rain, but could bring
some gusty outflow winds.

For all of western Montana: A pattern change is still on track for
tomorrow, with showers and thunderstorms developing Friday afternoon and
lingering into Saturday morning. On top of the threat of gusty winds
with storms, wetting rains still look likely from Butte to Lost Trail
Pass and northward. The heaviest precipitation is expected across west-
central and northwest Montana, where much of the area should see between
0.25" to 0.50" by Saturday morning. Southwest Montana will see lesser
amounts. A few thunderstorms Friday afternoon and evening could produce
locally heavy rain, which may cause run off on recent burn scars. Cool
and relatively moist conditions are anticipated Saturday with improved
air quality. Near normal temperatures, with breezy and dry afternoons
are anticipated for much of next week, though not as dry as this week.
