This bulk download tool provides the NWS text
in a raw form, hopefully directly usable by your processing system.
You can either provide a complete 6-character PIL/AFOS ID or provide
the 3-character base ID (e.g., AFD). The start and end
dates represent 00 UTC for those dates. The Zip format is useful as
the filenames will have the product timestamp, which is useful for
when the product format has ambiguous timestamps.
687 FXUS66 KSGX 051034 AFDSGX Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service San Diego CA 334 AM PDT Wed May 5 2021 .SYNOPSIS... Today will be a little warmer inland and the marine layer a little shallower with coastal low clouds fog not spreading inland much past the coastal areas. A low pressure system moving inland to the north will spread cooling inland for Thursday and Friday and deepen the marine layer with coastal low clouds and fog spreading inland into portions of the valleys. This will be followed by minor day to day changes into early next week, then some warming for the middle of next week. && .DISCUSSION...FOR EXTREME SOUTHWESTERN CALIFORNIA INCLUDING ORANGE... SAN DIEGO...WESTERN RIVERSIDE AND SOUTHWESTERN SAN BERNARDINO COUNTIES... .SHORT TERM (Today through Friday)... There is once again a weak coastal eddy with satellite imagery showing coastal low clouds spreading northward along the southern California coast. With high pressure aloft along the West Coast, the marine layer is a little shallower than 24 hours ago with the low clouds not extending inland much past some of the mesas in San Diego County and across portions of the Orange County coastal plain. Inland areas will warm a few more degrees today with today the warmest day for many areas. The marine layer will continue to keep the immediate coast cooler with high temperatures near to slightly below average, mostly in the 60s. For Thursday and Friday, a low pressure system will move inland to the north. This will strengthen the onshore flow across southern California and spread cooling inland. The marine layer will slowly deepen with night and morning coastal low clouds and fog extending inland into portions of the valleys. && .LONG TERM (Saturday through Tuesday)... Model clusters continue to show some spread in the amount of low pressure troughing that may linger over the southwest states. Those with more troughing would be a little cooler for southern California with the marine layer a little deeper while those with less troughing would be a little warmer and the marine layer a little shallower. The current forecast has minor day to day differences with the desert high temperatures near to a few degrees above average and the coast and valleys a few to around 5 degrees below average. Night and morning coastal low clouds and fog will spread inland into portions of the valleys. && .AVIATION... 050930Z...Coast/Valleys...Low clouds will fill in across coastal areas and will spread about 10 mi inland into the western valleys through sunrise.
