Area Forecast Discussion
National Weather Service Key West FL
1047 AM EDT Sun Apr 4 2021

.DISCUSSION...
A tranquil Easter Sunday morning across the Florida Keys. After
temperatures bottoming out in the upper 60s, under partly cloudy
skies, temperatures have climbed into the lower 70s across the
island chain. Doppler radar only detects isolated speed
convergence-driven showers and sprinkles in the Straits of
Florida. The 12z sounding at KEY continues to highlight a
formidable thermal inversion based at around 800 hPa. Combined
with limited ambient low- level moisture, the island chain is
expected to remain rain free for the rest of the afternoon. With
the mainland diurnal heating this afternoon, northeasterly breezes
will gradually slacken. All in all, no changes are needed in this
late morning update forecast package.
